Expressive Arts Therapy

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure"
-Marianne Williamson

Developing your creative self helps you to live your life in full expression, acknowledging the power in you. Art making through visual art, music, movement and poetic writing can be a therapeutic tool for:

  • Emotional wellbeing
  • Physical wellbeing
  • Personal growth
  • Creative expression
  • Self empowerment

The arts are the language of the soul. They can be used to heal the body, soothe the mind and transform the spirit. The expressive arts can be used by anyone, regardless of artistic experience, to create profound changes and activate deep levels of healing. The arts are a way of knowing, a vehicle to tap into our inner wisdom.

Expressive Therapy is for anyone who wants to build their relationship to their intuitive voice, deep listening and creative expression in their
life for themselves and with others.

Lynn Miller, Expressive Arts Therapist, begins where you are. She creates a safe container for self-exploration through an art form or combination of art forms. This gives an auditory, kinesthetic or visual understanding of what is being explored as you are guided to find your own discoveries within.

Expressive arts groups and individual sessions are offered at the Healing Arts Studio in Phoenixville, PA Open your imagination, come to this "playhouse" full of paints, colors, fabrics, clay, stained glass, world instruments, drums and room to move. Be courageous, playful, and follow your instincts! This is a supportive atmosphere for the experienced or trained artist as well as for the unexpressed one who knows in their soul they need to create but does not know where to begin.

"All people have an ability to be creative. In an expressive arts session one re-discovers the creative self. By delving into emotions through the arts one discovers understanding and wholeness. Emotions are energy, they can be transmuted and transformed through the arts. The expressive arts lead us to the subconscious. This allows us to discover awareness. When we combine art forms such as dance our painting, create music from our words, we open up all our senses and deepen our understanding. As we go deeper inside, we have a greater connection from the inner and outer world. The inner and outer become one."   Natalie Rogers

Through singing, playing drums, painting, sculpure or movement you will deepen your connection with the inner self and others. The arts are for all ages and abilities. The arts are for everyone, not just for the "gifted", we all have the gift of creative potential. Our creativity is an essential part of our wellbeing.

"There is a vitality, a life force that is
transmitted through you. There is an
energy which is only you. This expression
is unique. If you block it, it will die, never
expressed."

- Martha Graham
